A few words about Dafni
The Municipality of Dafni Ymitto is a municipality of Attica that emerged with the Kallikratis Program from the merger of the municipalities of Dafni and Ymitto, with headquarters in Dafni.
The Athens Gymnastics Academy (TEFAA) is housed in the administrative boundaries of Dafni and the parishes of the municipality are Agia Varvara, Zoodochos Pigi and on the borders with the Municipality of Athens of Agios Ioannis the Hunter and Agios Georgios. The area is adjacent to the municipal unit of Ymittos and is a passage to the South Sector, while it is accessible via Vouliagmeni Avenue and the metro station of the same name near Kalogeron Square and the bus transfer station.
An active commercial pedestrian street is developing in Dafni, while on its outskirts there are old tile shops and lighting workshops in the area towards Agios Dimitrios.
It is said that the name "Daphne" came from shrubs that were planted in the area. Laurels were the sacred plant of the god Apollo who was worshiped by all the Athenians as their father god, because according to the legend, he was the father of Ion, founder of the tribe to which they belonged. The emblem of the municipality is a circle with a painted golden laurel wreath around its circumference. In the center it bears the head of the god Apollo with a laurel wreath (Apollo's laurel wreath) and in the space between is a blue ribbon.
The Municipality of Ymittos is located at the foot of the homonymous mountain Ymittos. From its foundation until today, the Municipality of Ymittos has been characterized by two elements that have made it more widely known: its low-rise buildings and its intense cultural activity.
Although it is one of the smallest Municipalities of Athens, it managed to remain a human city and at the same time to propose institutions of cultural and social action of pan-Hellenic influence, which were inaugurated for the first time within its borders.
Also, as was natural, the architecture of the area is influenced by the refugees and its first inhabitants.
We, at anthemionflowers are able to send flowers to loved ones who live in Dafni and are celebrating a special day in their lives.
