A few words about Nea Erithraia, Athens

Thus, the Municipality of Nea Erithraia began to function at the beginning as a settlement of the Municipality of Athens in 1925.

In September 1927 the holy church of Evangelistria and the building of the 1st primary school were founded. The 1st primary school is directly connected with the history of New Erithrea and is a point of reference for all Erithreans. It was housed in a wooden shack, in the area in front of the Holy Temple of Evangelistria and operated in this area until 1931 when the government of E. Venizelos with Minister of Education G. Papandreou built the building that houses the current school. The Museum implements educational programs for students.

In recent years, the municipality has shown a significant activity with the development of cultural, social activities and the construction of infrastructure and utility projects.

In 1992, the Folklore Museum of the Union of Asia Minor of New Erithrea was opened. The recently renovated Museum houses 1,380 objects and includes relics (banners, costumes, linen, books, documents, utensils, etc.) from various parts of Asia Minor donated by Asia Minor, both from the Municipality of N. Erithrea and from other parts of Greece.

The Cultural Centre of Nea Erithrea through its activities has made its presence felt in the cultural life of the place. The area of Villa Konsta for years houses the spiritual and artistic concerns of the inhabitants of New Erithrea. In the stone restored building, a space of creation has been formed, where young and old have the opportunity to express learning and entertainment.
