It is distinguished for the beautiful mansions with the elaborate architectural rhythms, which reflect the economic and cultural flourishing of the 18th and 19th century. Here you will find most and the oldest churches of Trikala. Following the district Varousi up to the central square is the part of the city called old Manavika with characteristic architecture. There are some of the best taverns and cafe-bars in that area.
The Hill of Profitis Elias, is a remarkable green lung overlooking the city and within walking distance of the city centre. On this hill is the church of Profitis Ilias, the Centre for Environmental Education in Dapia and the Zoo of the city which among other things hosts ostriches, horses, deer and several species of birds.
